Meet Dr. Alett

Dr. Alett has been practicing veterinary medicine for 20+ years.

She holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. In addition to her DVM, Dr. Alett also holds a Masters degree in Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a minor in French and Environmental Science.

After her DVM training, Dr. Alett completed a Small Animal Internal Medicine internship at the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Following this, she did one year of specific training in Veterinary Oncology at Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine before going into general practice in Massachusetts.

In 2013 Dr. Alett pursued additional training in veterinary physical rehabilitation (“PT”). Given that she had completed several marathons and long distance triathlons she saw firsthand the benefits of physical therapy. With this certification she started her first at home business helping pets in their home with mobility and pain management. And then the pandemic happened putting an unexpected hold on her housecall business.

With her business on hold, her interest for helping senior patients turned into a full-time passion when she became certified in veterinary hospice and palliative care. This passion evolved into specializing in at home euthanasia; and Wee Paw Way was born.

With every appointment she strives to make each appointment special by uniquely tailoring it to honor the bond between that pet and family.

Dr. Mekler is beloved for her kind and compassionate ability to help parents say goodbye to their fur babies with dignity and peace.

Most of the families that I serve become a part of my ‘squad’ - many become friends. Many have touched base to share when they’ve gotten a new furry family member; I’ve hung out with some just to hear more stories about their time with their beloved pet that they lost; I’ve even been invited to a wedding. These families become MY family.

Honor the magical journey from beginning to end.

Honor the magical journey from beginning to end.

Honor the magical journey from beginning to end. Honor the magical journey from beginning to end.

My service is different than other in-home euthanasia services.

Working with clients who view their pet as important family members is my core principle.

I care deeply about providing end-of-life care for pets and work hard to create services with their best interest in mind.

I am passionate about working with people who see the value in co-creating a compassionate farewell experience for their pets.

I am an experienced, licensed veterinarian and pet parent myself.

I understand the everlasting bond with our soul pets. It’s like they are sent from the stars to rescue us.

My goal is to honor the magical connection between you and the brightest star in your life.

Saying goodbye to these companions is incredibly difficult. I work with you to create a comfortable peaceful atmosphere for you and your pet.

Every detail is handled with care from beginning to end.
